MANAGEMENT AT KOI
The Ken Orr Institute focuses on helping organizations manage their hidden assets their knowledge. We became experts in managing knowledge or more correctly "knowledge artifacts" through three decades of IT and business technology consulting. Oscar Robertson, the famous basketball player once said, “I spent 18 years practicing night and day to find that I was an overnight success.” We at KOI spent over 30 years practicing IT management and consulting to find that we had been in the Knowledge Management business all along.
Software development and management is, at base, the management of knowledge. Each day, systems analysts and programmers try to extract implicit (tacit) knowledge from users and managers and then translate that into knowledge artifacts -specifications, code, and documentation- that faithfully capture that knowledge. What we’re doing today is taking what we learned about Knowledge Management in the software domain and transferring it to many other areas.
